In this feature “The First State of Mind” we focus on Richard Raw from the first state, Delaware.

Richard Raw is not your average emcee. This man is a lecturer, public speaker, constantly doing shows (independently) and still makes time to volunteer for the homeless every Sunday in his city. As he states in this video, you have to be “active.”

We first met Richard Raw at a showcase we produced in Delaware where our partners at RAMG studios referred him to us during the event. He just happen to have two instrumentals on him so we allowed him to perform.

Long story short… As a viewer, you would have assumed he was one of the featured artist.

Beyond Those Bars Seminar  

Beyond Those Bars is a Free 12 week supplemental program for young students between the ages of 12-14.  Facilitated by wordsmith and musician Richard Raw, Beyond Those Bars utilizes interactive and unique Hip Hop based activities and workshops to provide life skills training, comprehension development and educational support to participating students.  The program follows a structured format with weekly goals and specified skills development.

Richard Raw will be giving a lecture/presentation at The Renaissance Academy Charter School on February 19th entitled "Hip-Hop - A Classical African American Art Form". Within that topic Raw will discuss with the students (among other things) the history of Hip Hop and how it has broken many racial barriers.

Richard Raw contributed to the Raising Kings Conference as a Panelist, Workshop Host as well as a Performer.   Rennie Rox Films was there to capture the performance!!   

Richard Raw's album Soul Sessions and single "The Definition" featuring Hezekiah and John Robinson has been nominated for a Homey Award.   The Homey awards are for local musicians and artist in the tri state area as a part of WSTW Hometown Heroes.
